What is a Notary Public?

An individual who is appointed by the state government to witness signings and to positively identify those signers prior to signing important documents. Also, a person has been appointed to administer oaths.

To get a document notarized the signer must have current identification with a photograph, physical description, and a signature. A current drivers license, military ID or passport is acceptable.

When looking for a Notary Public, first check with your local bank. Fees may be waived if you have a banking relationship with the institution.
